♥ I mentioned this before on this blog but I’m a squirrel lover. They are just too darned cute.
♥ This one that I’m blogging about today I’ve nicknamed Crooked because its head is on crooked. He even runs crooked due to this.
♥ I have a soft spot for misfits.
♥ He ran up Chris’s leg one day when he was sitting on our patio. He said hi and jumped down. Hilarious!
♥ I can feed this guy from my hand. He’s super sweet and gentle when he takes the food. It’s the only way I can ensure he’ll get the nuts b/c the other squirrels pick on him and beat him up if he tries to get food.
♥ I also root for the underdog and I can’t stand bullies.
♥ So with Crooked being a misfit, the underdog AND bullied I just love him to bits.
♥ You are all probably gaping at your screen but this isn’t abnormal for me. I grew up with this being “normal.”
♥ Growing up, Dad would always have random wild animals as outdoor pets. Sometimes because they just randomly friended him or because they were hurt and he was helping nurse them back to health. I remember having a baby skunk, snakes and a grackle at random times in my life. There’s also the incident that scared my mother half to death, when my Dad had me hold a baby opossum. She nearly fainted. I should mention that he grew up working for a vet’s office so he knew how to handle wild animals. He did have a special touch though and they always seemed to know he was a kindred spirit.
♥ Case in point, not long before my Dad died, he was sitting outside by the chimnea enjoying the fire. His eyesight wasn’t good due to the stroke he’d had. At this time we had an outdoor cat (Kitty who is now an indoor cat) so when this animal came and started winding around his legs, he assumed it was Kitty. He and her had a “tail pulling” game they’d play so he’d yank on her tail, the animal went back to winding and being pet etc. After about 10 minutes or so the animal came up and curled up at his feet. He then realized it was a skunk, not Kitty. I love this story for so many reasons but I think it’s a riot how the skunk kept coming back for more tail pulling and that my Dad innocently went about pulling a skunks tail.
♥ It’s Monday and I feel that today just called for squirrels.
♥ Please comment for cans for the hungry this holiday season!!!
♥ Remember!! Comment for cans!!!!!!!!!!!! Every comment = 1 can of food donated to a needy family this Christmas!!
♥ I have known Jen and Joe since first grade (holy cow that was a long time ago!).
♥ They started dating in third grade. Yes you read that right… THIRD GRADE (that is if memory serves me correctly, it could have been earlier).
♥ While they did break up off and on through the years of school, they always seemed to find their way back to one another.
♥ Now they have been married for 10 + years and have 3 beautiful kids.
♥ Thanks to the power of Facebook we reconnected and they hired me for their holiday family session.
♥ It’s a neat and very bizarre experience to photograph kids at ages that I remember their parents being!
Photo Locations:
Location #1: Their Home
Location #2: Canton Garden Center
Location #3: Orchard Hill School

Before heading out to the park, we did a quick few formal shots at their home. I was really happy to see that their dog even behaved and looked at the camera for this shot!

Yep, it’s my favorite bridge again!!

I had to get one of Jen & Joe together, it’s rare that you take pictures as a couple after you get married!

One of my two favorite shots from the day.

The second favorite!!!

The final image is yet another favorite from the session. He was pretty much done with picture taking for the day and just wanted to play on the tire swing. I caught this image of him while he was rising and falling on the swing. It ended up being by far my favorite of the kids individually.
♥ This is my final wedding for 2009 – unless I get a surprise one before the end of the year!
♥ Heather ironically found me via a comment I left on a photo of her reception location on Flickr. It always surprises me how people find me!
♥ I have to say that I loved this wedding a lot. The cutest church. The coolest get-away car. A couple that is willing to climb a tree for pictures. It was such a great way to end another amazing year of business.
♥ I wasn’t able to take pictures during the ceremony which was a first for me. It was nice though to enjoy the ceremony without worrying about capturing it.
♥ My husband, Chris, was my second shooter and he did a great job!
♥ This wedding spawned two new obsessions. I am obsessed with her maid of honor’s dress and if anyone can find me a link to this dress, you win a free portrait session from me. No joke. I also became obsessed with the perfume that the maid of honor let Heather borrow for the day of her wedding, Pacifica Waikiki Pikake. I came home and ordered it that night. I have it and LOVE LOVE LOVE it and want all of the scents now because of how awesome this one is.
♥ Please COMMENT – I will be donating one can of food to the Akron Canton Regional Foodbank for each comment received through December 15th! More info here.

Brides I’m going to warn you of this right now, days of weddings rarely go as planned – especially when time lines are concerned. When I arrived at the B&B where Heather was getting ready, she was still at the salon and her hair had just been started and they were about an hour behind. Since I had the location of the salon in her questionnaire, I headed off to the salon and surprised Heather by showing up there. I didn’t feel right just hanging about while she wasn’t too far away getting beautified! I’m glad that I went because I love documenting the entire transformation of the bride from everyday beautiful to wedding day stunning!

This window just SCREAMED “shoe shot” to me.

Chris got this neat shot of the awesome getaway car through the church door.

I loovveeee this dress.

Another shot that Chris captured that I loved of Heather moments before she walked down the aisle.

I’m glad I was able to capture this moment before I had to stop taking pictures.

While the first kiss is always important, I typically love the embrace that happens after it just a bit more.

Another fun image from Chris of me shooting an entire group shot of Heather & Brian and their guests in front of the church.

Heather giving a heartfelt hug to her brother… she started crying as soon as she saw him. I love moments like these (especially when I’m in the right place at the right time!).

By far the coolest getaway car of the year! This is the groom’s uncle’s car.

They had to pull over part way down the road to put the top up so Heather’s hair didn’t get messed up and I was lucky enough to be behind them so I raced up and got a shot of them kissing before they put the top up!

The comment I left on flickr was on a picture at this exact spot of the farm so it’s only appropriate that I took a shot there!

Even though the gardens were dead, this was still such a great location to shoot at!

Heather and Brian sitting in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G!!

I love that Heather planned ahead and brought boots to take pictures in!! Aren’t they CUTE?!? And you had NO clue until now she was rockin’ these instead of heels!

The light in the field behind the reception barn was magical. I love this shot SO much.

The bridal party. I love that they had one person on each side – so did we! Sidenote that the Best Man could be a brother of my Father in Law. It was almost scary how much they looked alike and acted alike.

I loved the color of this bush and luckily there was a bench right in front of it!

Brian’s daughter was teased by Michael Kelsey so afterwards Brian gave her a sweet kiss for being a good sport.

First Dance!

Groom and daughter dance… so sweet!

Rings in flowers…
